What are ground lights outside?

The name says it all. Ground lights are LED lights that you mount in the ground of your garden. With ground lights, you light up a shrub or tree, but also a pathway, around a pond, the driveway, or the front of your house. Ground lights are ideal for creating a cozy and atmospheric view.

Ground lights

All LED ground lights are made of stainless steel. The housing has a notch that prevents the cable from being crushed into the ground. This increases the lifespan and also makes them easier to install. Furthermore, all ground lights are certified.

Why choose garden ground lights?

There is no single answer to this question. There are several advantages why you should choose ground lights. Below you will find a number of them listed:

- They are waterproof and resistant to dust (weatherproof)
- All ground lights are made of stainless steel
- They have stylish designs
- Easy to assemble
- Certified lighting
- Reliable in all weather conditions
- They shine a pure and atmospheric light
- You save up to 85% energy
- They are environmentally friendly

What are the main specifications of ground lights for a garden?

Several important specifications should be considered when buying LED ground lights. We will explain them below.

The IP value
The IP value indicates the protection class of LED ground lights. An IP value consists of two digits. The first digit indicates protection against solid objects and dust. The second digit indicates protection against water. We recommend choosing LED ground lights with IP-65 or IP-67. These lights have been specially designed for outdoor use and are therefore resistant to dust and water. IP-65 lights are protected against dust and water jets and IP-67 lights can even be submerged underwater for 30 minutes. In our assortment, you will only find outdoor ground lights with IP-67.

The number of watts
The wattage indicates how much power a spotlight consumes. Would you like to know how many watts your ground source must have? Below are guidelines that you can use to determine how many watts you need.

Would you like to light a shrub up to 1 meter high? Then choose a ground source of 1 watt.
Would you like to light a bush or tree up to 3 meters high? Then choose 3 or 4 watts.
Would you like to light a tree or façade at a height of 3 to 5 meters? Choose 3, 4, or 5 watts.
Would you like to illuminate a tree or façade from 5 to 7 meters? Then choose 5 or 10 watts.
Would you like to illuminate a tree or façade from 7 to 10 meters? Then choose 10 watts.
Would you like to use the ground lights for a walkway, driveway, or other places where the spotlights do not touch objects? Then 1 watt is sufficient.

Operating voltage (230 Volt or 24 Volt Plug & Play)
You will find 230-volt lighting and 24-volt lighting in the assortment. With both voltages, it is easy to combine ground lights with spike lights, decking lights, wall lights and floor lights. There is also a big difference between the two. To get you started, we've explained the differences for you.

230 volt
If you choose a 230-volt garden ground light, you choose the well-known working voltage that is also found on your wall socket.

The 230-volt LED groundspots are easily connectable using a waterproof cable to another 230-volt garden light. For example, you can connect them to LED spike lights, LED deck lights, and LED wall lights. In this way, you can light up your entire garden.

With these cable connectors, you can also easily connect the lighting to the 230-volt ground cable in your garden. You can connect an unlimited number of LED garden lights to the 230-volt ground cable. Make sure that you put the cables 60 cm under the ground. This ensures that the cabling is safely concealed.

Twilight switches and motion detectors
Would you like to connect the ground lights to a twilight switch or motion detector? In our range, you will find two different twilight switches. You can choose from the twilight switch 2000 and the twilight switch 3000. With both switches, you can set the level at which the lighting is automatically switched on. The 3000 twilight switch also has a night savings mode. This means that you can program the lighting to go off at a set time using a rotary knob. In this way, you save energy.

It is also possible to connect the lighting with a motion detector. Here, too, you can set the time and switch-on level yourself. The range of the motion detector is up to 14 meters.

24 Volt (Plug & Play)
If you choose 24 volts, you choose practicality and safety. The wiring of 24-volt lighting can be placed under a thin layer of earth or even above the ground. You do not have to dig 60 cm deep!

24 volt ground lights

Because of the low working voltage, the system is safe for humans and animals. So, do you want easy installation or do you have a child or pet that likes to play in the garden? Then this 24 Volt system is for you!

Furthermore, all our 24-volt Plug & Play products, such as the LED deck lights, LED spike lights, LED wall lights, and LED standing lights have the same connector. This ensures that you can combine all our 24-volt garden lights with each other and with one transformer.

To be able to use the 24-volt ground lights, you need to order the 24-volt transformer separately. The transformer ensures that the current is converted to a low operating voltage. You have a choice of two transformers:

  • The Hamulight LED transformer 24 volt (up to 80 watts)
  • The Hamulight LED transformer 24 volt Astro (up to 80 watts)

- The Hamulight LED 24 Volt Transformer (up to 80 watts)
The Hamulight LED 24-volt transformer is a normal 24-volt transformer that ensures that the current is converted into the correct low voltage. You can connect lights up to 80 watts to this transformer. This means that, for example, you can connect 16 garden lights of 5 Watts.

- The Hamulight LED transformer 24 Volt Astro (up to 80 Watt)
Have you chosen the Astro transformer? Then you can also connect up to 80-watt lights to it. The Astro has several possibilities. You can set it to the following positions:

  1. ON mode: the lighting stays on
  2. OFF mode: the lights stay off
  3. AUTO mode: lighting switches on at sunset and switches off at sunrise
  4. TIMER mode: the lighting switches on and off at specific times (you set these times yourself)
  5. ASTRO mode: astronomical timer mode with local sunrise and sunset

Which LED ground lights do you need?

Is there only one spotlight now? Congratulations! That's your light!
Do you see more than one? Choose the nicest one!

Step 4: Choose the number of ground lights
Decide how many lights you need for lighting your garden.

Step 5a: (if 230 Volt lighting) Add the accessories
- Order the cable connectors to easily connect the ground lights with the other 230-volt garden lights or with the ground cable.
- Do you need more cabling? Then choose an extension cord.
- Want to make your 230-volt lighting smarter? Then choose a motion detector or twilight switch.

Step 5b: (if 24 Volt lighting) Add the accessories
- Do not forget to order one of the 24-volt transformers separately, otherwise, the ground lights will not work!
