Surface-mounted Spotlights Porch; What are they?

The name says it all. In contrast to LED recessed spotlights, LED surface-mounted spotlights are mounted on the beams of your porch. You will see them sitting on the beams of your porch.

The LED surface-mounted spotlights are sold in set form. Every set consists of 4, 6, 8, 10, or 12 LED construction spotlights porch, including one transformer with a connector. The transformer converts the current into the correct working voltage. The connector ensures that multiple spotlights can work with one transformer.

The sets have only one transformer. This ensures that you can keep the transformer outside the beams of your porch. This is also the reason why each surface-mounted spotlight is equipped with up to 5 meters of cable. Because the transformer and connector are hidden away at the beginning of the porch (for instance in the click profile of the porch or in a wall box), 230 Volt (high voltage) does not run through the beams of your porch. Instead of 230 volts, only 3 - 6 volts (low voltage) run through your porch. This is optimal for your safety.                                                        

For some sets, you also need a LED receiver. A LED receiver ensures that the LED porch spotlights can communicate with another system, such as Somfy or Nice. Below, you can read which sets these are.

BAS set
This set is a general set. You can expand the set with a switch, LED dimmer, with the Hamulight app or you can control the BAS set with the Home Domotica system (home automation system) Nice. For the Nice system, you need to order the Nice LED receiver and the Nice remote control.

Do you have Nice controlled devices in your home (e.g. sun blinds, shutters, and garage doors)? Then you can use this set to communicate with them. This way you only have one remote control for all Nice controlled devices in your house, including beautiful porch lights! Would you like to control the LED spotlights on your porch with the Hamulight app? Then add the Hamulight app receiver separately to your shopping basket.

You can also combine this set with a motion detector and a twilight switch. Both are available on our website.

The connector supplied with the BAS set is a series connector. Is one surface-mounted spot broken? Then all the surface-mounted spotlights will fail. But don't worry! The transformer and connector are outside the porch so you can quickly fix the problem. By taking the surface-mounted spotlights out of the connector one by one, you can see which one is broken. Have you removed a spotlight? Then fill the empty spot with a jumper. The connector must be completely filled, otherwise, the lighting will not work anyway.

AB set
AB stands for remote control. The AB sets are operated with the Hamulight remote control. This set is complete, and you do not need to order anything separately.

The supplied connector is parallel. This means that when a spot breaks down, not all spotlights fail, but only the broken spot. This means that you do not have to find out which spot is broken. You do need to check whether it is the spot or the wiring.

This is what you get with the AB set:
- 6, 8, 10, or 12 LED surface-mounted porch spotlights (3 watts)
- A parallel LED transformer with a connector
- Hamulight remote control                       

Somfy IO set
Do you already have Somfy IO-controlled devices in your house (e.g. roller blinds or sunblinds) or do you want to work with Somfy? Then this Somfy IO set is for you! This set can be linked to other Somfy IO-controlled devices in the house. So, for example, you can control your roll-down shutters and lighting with one remote control.

The connector supplied with this set is a series connector. Make sure you order the Somfy IO LED receiver as well. This is not included in the set, but you do need it for the operation of the LED surface-mounted porch spotlights.

This is what you receive with the AB set:
- 6, 8, 10, or 12 LED surface-mounted porch spotlights (3 Watt)
- One series LED Somfy IO transformer with connector (including jumpers)

Not included (must be ordered separately):
- Somfy IO LED receiver

Somfy RTS set
Do you have Somfy RTS in your home? Or do you want to control multiple devices in your home with Somfy RTS? Then choose this set! Your current Somfy RTS-controlled devices can be linked with this Somfy RTS set. In this way, you operate all the Somfy RTS products in your home with one remote control.

This set includes a series connector. The Somfy RTS remote control and Somfy RTS LED receiver should be ordered separately. Without Somfy RTS receiver, the surface spotlights do not work!

- One series LED Somfy RTS transformer with series connector (including jumpers)

What are the important specifications of LED surface-mounted porch lights?

The last thing we want is for you to buy surface-mounted lighting that does not comply with your wishes. To avoid this, we now look at an important specification of surface-mounted porch lights.

IP-value
Do you want to know to what extent the surface-mounted lights are protected? Then look at the IP value of LED spotlights. The IP value consists of two digits. The higher the digits, the better the protection. LED spotlights that are placed on the porch must have an IP value of 44 (IP-44). IP-44 spotlights are resistant to dust and are splash-proof. And that is more than enough for your porch. In our assortment, you will only find surface-mounted porch spotlights with a minimum of IP-44.

Which build-on spotlights do you need?
The informative part is over. It's time to start looking for your ideal surface-mounted porch light. We do this by following the steps below. Use the filter function for this!

Step 1: Determine which conservatory light set you want
Filter on BAS, AB, Somfy IO or Somfy RTS. You see only a set with Gomera spots.

Step 2: Choose the number of spotlights
You have already chosen the surface-mounted spot. Now determine the number of spotlights you need to light your porch.

We advise using 2 spotlights per inner beam for a porch up to 3 meters. Normally no spotlights are placed on the two outer beams. In this way, the light is well-distributed.

4m x 3m (3 inner beams) = 6 porch spotlights
5m x 3m (4 inner beams) = 8 porch spotlights
6m x 3m (5 inner beams) = 10 porch spotlights
7m x 3m (6 inner beams) = 12 porch spotlights

Do you have a porch of 4 meters or deeper? Then we advise using more spotlights per beam.

Use 3 spotlights per beam if you have a porch of 4 meters or deeper!

Step 3: Add the requisites
Did you choose a BAS or Somfy set? Then order the Somfy or Nice receiver and remote control as well! To use the Hamulight app, you need to order the Hamulight app receiver separately. The BAS set can also be combined with a twilight switch or motion detector.

Step 4: Add the accessories
- Want to beautifully hide the transformer and connector and keep it watertight? Then order a wall box!
- Order an extension lead if you don’t have enough cabling.
