Spike lights
Spike lights
So you want to enrich your garden with spike lights? But do you know which type of spike light you need exactly? We do! We would like to take you into the world of spotlights. Together, we will make sure you order the ideal spotlight. Are you ready? Then read on!
Spike lights: What are they?
The spike lights are LED spots with a long sharp pin on the bottom. The sharp pin is included and is attached to the spotlight with a screw. The sharp point makes the spots easy to place and move. You only have to insert the pin in the ground in the right place. The LED bollard spots are tiltable so that you can decide for yourself how high the spotlight shines.
The pure and warm white light beam allows you to beautifully illuminate a tree, shrub, or other object in your garden. But also a pond, the facade of your house, or a shed can be illuminated with spotlights.
All LED spotlights are powder coated so they are well protected against all weather conditions. The spots are waterproof and weatherproof. Furthermore, the spots are certified. This way we are sure that you will receive a properly functioning and reliable lamp!

What should you pay attention to when buying spike garden lights?
We will now look at the most important specifications of a spotlight. You will need this information to determine which lamp is suitable for your garden.
IP value
You look at the IP value if you want to know how well an electric spotlight is protected against water and dust. This is an important specification to take into account, especially with garden lighting. We recommend choosing LED spotlights with at least IP-65. Spotlights with IP-65 are resistant to dust and water jets and are therefore weatherproof. But don't worry. With us, all LED spots are IP-65!
Watt
The wattage is the amount of power a spotlight consumes. Below we have drawn up guidelines to help you determine how many watts your spotlight needs.
Will you be illuminating a pond? Then choose a LED spotlight of 3 watts.
Are you going to illuminate a bush, tree, or object up to 3 meters high? Then choose a LED halogen spot of 3 watts.
Are you going to illuminate a bush, tree, object, or façade at a height of 3 to 5 meters? Then choose a LED spotlight of 3 or 5 watts.
Are you going to illuminate a bush, tree, object, or façade that is 5 to 7 meters high? If so, you should opt for an LED spotlight of 5 or 10 watts.
Are you going to illuminate a bush, tree, object, or façade that is 7 to 10 meters high? If so, you should opt for 10 watts.
Operating voltage (230 volts or 24 volts)
Do you opt for lamp posts on 230 volts or do you opt for the 24-volt Plug and Play system? This is a question you should think about before ordering. With both voltages, it is easy to combine ground lights with ground lights, decking lights, wall lights and floor lights. There is also a big difference between the two. But here are differences between those. We will explain the differences below.
230 volts
230 volts is the well-known working voltage (also called mains voltage) that is also found on wall sockets. The 230-volt LED spots are equipped with a plug. All you have to do is plug it into a socket and the spotlight switches on.
Do you have no outlet in your garden or do you want to combine more spotlights or different garden lighting? Then you can cut off the plug. Once you cut off the plug, the cable is three-wired. With the waterproof cable connector, you can easily connect it to other spotlights or other garden lighting. You can also use the cable connector to connect the 230-volt lamp to the ground cable in your garden. Enough possibilities!
Make sure that you lay the cables for the spots 60 cm deep in the ground. This also applies to the ground cable in your garden. This keeps it safe and you can be sure that nothing can happen to it.
Twilight switches and motion detectors
Would you like the 230-volt spike lights to be controlled by a motion detector or twilight switch? That is possible! The motion detector ensures that all connected lighting switches on when someone moves within the range of up to 14 meters. You can set the switch-on level yourself.
It is also possible to connect the lighting to a twilight switch. In our range, you will find two different twilight switches. You have the choice of the twilight switch 2000 and 3000. Both switches automatically switch the lighting at a certain light level. You can set this level yourself. The difference between the two is in the night savings mode. The 3000 variant is equipped with a night economy mode. This allows you to program the lighting to be switched off at a fixed time to save energy.
24 Volt
The 24-volt Plug & Play system is safe for humans and animals. Due to the low operating voltage, your children and pets can play safely in the garden. The cables of the 24-volt spotlight can be laid under a thin layer of sand or even above the ground. This saves you a lot of digging!
All 24-volt lights are equipped with the same connector. You connect the 24-volt LED spike lights with other 24-volt garden lights within one click. You can easily connect the 24-volt LED spotlights with 24-volt LED ground spots, LED wall lights, LED floor lamps, or LED decking spotlights.
The 24-volt LED transformer must be ordered separately. It is not included in the delivery of a 24-volt product. You can choose from the following two transformers:
- The Hamulight LED transformer 24 volt
- The Hamulight LED transformer 24 volt Astro
- The Hamulight LED transformer 24 volt
They both ensure that the current is converted to the low 24-volt operating voltage. The first-mentioned transformer is a normal 24-volt transformer that is equipped with a plug and a 24-volt coupler. You can operate several 24-volt garden lights with one transformer.
The normal 24-volt transformer goes up to a maximum of 80 Watts. For example, you can connect 16 different types of 24-volt garden lights of 5 Watts to the normal 24-volt transformer of 80 Watts.
- The Hamulight LED transformer 24-volt Astro
You can also connect lights up to 80 Watts to the Astro. Furthermore, with the Astro transformer, you can program the 24-volt lighting in the following modes:
1. ON mode: the lighting stays on all the time
2. OFF mode: the lighting remains constantly off
3. AUTO mode: lighting switches on at sunset and switches off at sunrise
4. TIMER mode: the light goes on and off at preset times (the times can be set by the user)
5. ASTRO mode: astronomical timer mode with the local sunset and sunrise
Please note that you must order one of the two transformers separately. The 24 V lighting does not work without a transformer!
